Best Cities to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Yes we know its too early to be writing about St. Patrick's day, but It’s the most wonderful time of the year! So we have decided to make a list of the world’s best cities to paint green this 17th March. So, dust off the leprechaun hat, get to claiming your Irish heritage, buy 10 pints and 1 for someone else, and so on.

Dublin

Naturally, what were you expecting us to say? Plymouth? The Irish capital is the epicenter of the global celebration. The city bursts into life with the most colorful St. Patrick’s Day parade in the world. The parade is part of Dublin’s four-day celebration (14th-18th March) that features beer and whiskey festivals, free live music, and of course A LOT of green things. 

New York

New York has always taken St. Patrick's day seriously, Nowhere celebrates St. Patrick’s Day quite like it. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to participate in the oldest and biggest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the United States. Nowadays, on the 17th of March, million s of spectators are expected to be along the route taken by the floats along Fifth Avenue. Away from the parade many bars will be filled to the brim with people who claim to be Irish drinking Guinness and pretending to like it.

London

The English capitals nightlife excels on St. Patrick’s Day, people from across the world join together for a day of celebration. Usually held on the Sunday closest to March 17, a parade snakes past landmarks in the streets of London, much like New York, the pubs and bars are filled with people celebrating the culture of the Irish.

Buenos Aires

Not the 1st place you think of when St. Patricks day is mentioned, but Buenos Aires certainly joins in when the day arrives. The Argentine capital gets even crazier than usual! The city surprisingly has a proud Irish ancestry and throws the wildest celebration to rival anyplace in the world. Transforming the heart of the city into a Guinness-fuelled, tayto munching wonderland.

Chicago

This place goes green in a big way. (Not like The Hulk) in the literal sense. Famously around 40 lbs of green dye are used to make the Chicago River into a sparkling green stream. It’s been a tradition in the city for decades. Chicago’s Parade is one of the biggest in the U.S thus rivaling New York's.

Boston

Boston is another american city with a large number of Irish populous, thus making it one of the world’s prime locations for the St. Patrick’s Day. On the Sunday closest to the day, South Boston hosts a lively parade that includes traditional marching bands from across the US. Also as a plus the city is well known for having a number of Irish bars, and you have all the ingredients for a  day that you will probably forget due to the black stuff.
